It’s been a great ride! We have just one more voting round to go!
But… before tomorrow’s Finals Bracket, our thoughts turn to the mighty who have fallen.
Lest we forget those cherished and revered artists, who will always have a special place in our-
Oof. First Fergie, now Bey. Who knew that we’d make so many enemies?
And this just in: We have a special presentation to honor those artists and recordings, who – perhaps undeservedly – had been un-voted! So, without further ado… Let’s throw it to the control room, and roll tape!
“The good news is that our special treat for cappie is happening:
Spielberg is still in!“
…But Yo Yo Ma is… not…
Some flimsy excuse about a “conflict.” A gig at the “500th Anniversary Of The Vienna Philharmonic,” or something. Please.
But that’s not to say that we don’t have the requisite “somber and sad, yet inspiring solo instrumental performance.”
I called in a favor…
And so, with a special, original bass solo composition from Bill “Virgindog” Bois, we present…
And so, as we pay respect to all of the competitors… remember to come back tomorrow for The Finals!
See you in 24…
Pauly

Looking at the video, I can see why Bey would be bothered and bewildered.
But not bewitched?
Samantha Stevens has entered the chat.
So, in midstream, we get a different Darren. Dick Sargent instead of Dick York. And nobody notices. It’s like unintended science fiction.
Inexplicably, a multitude of Becky Connors have entered the chat.
I just read an article. I’ve got to check out Season 8.
“Hello, Durwood!” Sorry, I just had to get that Esmerelda dialogue out of my system somehow.
We need more solo bass tunes in the world. Great job, mt and v-dog (full disclosure: I initially typed out “vd” for parallel structure and quickly decided against that).
But just to be clear: if Queen Bey comes down upon us all in wrath, let it be known that I tried to put a ring on it.
Thank you mt58 for capturing the spirit and gravity of the situation and thank you Bill for tying this all together! Love it!!!
I really thought Crazy in Love would win it all, and I thought Since U Been Gone was maybe 2nd most likely to take the crown. They both had a great run, and I’m stoked for both finalists. It will be a tough battle.
Even though I just noodled in A minor for 30 seconds, I did wear a suit and tie. It seemed only right.
Thanks everyone!
Your Ramen > most folks’ lasagna.
Thanks for the contribution!
It’s all about the bass, ammirite Bill?
Nicely done everyone. Now comes the complaints of who you overlooked in your In Memorium segment…… 😉
Sure enough, like watching any in memoriam montage there were the ones where my response was; ‘really?! they died this year’. Step forward Evanescence, I’d forgotten they were even in the running. Sorry guys.
The tension builds. What is the last song? The last song is the most important song.
Good choice. This person is artist of the decade.
mt58, you provided a context for me to point out that the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Scientists left out Anne Heche in their In Memoriam tribute this past year. I return to Donnie Brasco. Heche took the thankless role of the hero’s wife, which in many cases, is there just to have another body in the room, and stole the scene from Johnny Depp.
It’s a cruel industry.
*Sciences.
Ack. I had just finished making a We Are Scientists pun, in regard to the kittens on the cover art of their first(?) album.
In case anyone was not here last October:

I was sure it’d be Thong Song!
Anne Heche is a great example of what the industry does to actresses
who deviate from the main stream.
It goes back to Frances Farmer from the 1940’s to Roseanna Arquitte from
the ’80’s and many actresses in between.
Thanks, Cappie, for catching this.
I know who Frances Farmer is, thanks to Jessica Lange and Kurt Cobain. Never actually saw her act. Any recommendations?
Being the TV fan that I am, I had some real hate generated against the Emmys last year for leaving out Pat Carroll, who was a regular on at least 14 TV series and won the statuette for her work on Caesar’s Hour in 1957. “But nobody remembers her!” I’m sure some nitwit said when compiling the In Memoriam segment and leaving her out. I interviewed her 10 years ago, and she was witty and warm and wonderful, all things that the Emmys aren’t nowadays.
