I don’t remember Bastard Sons Of Johnny Cash being nominated, though I’m sure it was, but boy, I like it!
I love that one! I think it was one of JJLAL’s.
That was indeed my suggestion. I’ll admit I’ve never heard a single note by them and I have no idea where I came across the name but once heard never forgotten.
I don’t know that I would even want to hear them. The name is just too glorious to risk being disappointed by the music.
Aside from Various Artists, who I knew from some “easily confusable band names” list, the one I’ve heard of from here is Nerf Herder, who did the instrumental theme to Buffy.
Here’s a page you all might love – among other things, there’s an American punk band named Rolling Stones

I remember that! They played at CBGB the week before my band. I heard a few people showed just in case it was the real Stones.
I’m impressed that your band played at CBGB! Which band was it?
My punk band, Psycho, naturally.
Nerfherder was a fairly well known band in the 90s/00s. I voted for it anyway.
I absolutely love this song by them.

Nerf Herder asked Sammy Hagar to appear in the music video. He declined. Hagar doesn’t have a sense of humor. That’s why I like Michael Bolton. Bolton acknowledges, and is okay with the fact that some people don’t like his music.
I think it’s probably better that Hagar wasn’t in it. It could have taken away from the nerdy outsider feel that makes me love it so much.
