I only got a few of them, and one of them only because Gary helped me out.
Speaking of guitar legends, can anyone guess who is playing on this early Bowie track?

Well, it sure drips 60s… Feels like it was recorded in the UK… Would have to be in the same wheelhouse, agewise…
I’m gonna go with Jimmy Page?”
Without knowing this song or the answer and without listening, I’m going to guess Jimmy Page. Seems like he was playing on a whole lot of material around that time.
OK, Link.
We’re both either gonna look good or go down with the ship together…
Point to mt for successful induction, and one to Link for successful deduction.
And to Phylum for the fabulous production! Huzzah!
(Great find and a great song, BTW!)
I’m going Jeff Beck on this. The tone reminds me of his Yardbirds work. I like this and have never heard it or anything by Bowie, admittedly, before he renamed himself after a knife.
Rats
If you want some more early stuff, I’ve compiled whatever is available on Spotify on a playlist. They’re currently missing 12 or so songs, but still plenty there:

Pssst…you gave away the answer in the clue to #8
Oof… I’m driving right now, but I’ll fix that within the hour. Thank you.
Well presented! Sadly, I only got 3 of these correct. 🙁
Quizzes are always fun and this was a good one. I got 5 of 8 and am disappointed in myself, but I will get gripey and say that one questions’ clue threw me off as it appeared to limit the timeline of an artists’ chart success to a time period that excluded 2 of their #1 songs.
More of these, please mt. I love it!
Post-article self-review notes:
I think it was just right. Not too easy, not too hard
4 out of 8. 50%. That’s an F so I’ll probably have to stay back a year. That’s OK, I’m looking forward to the next quiz already! Nice job, mt.
So…I did not fare as well as I would have hoped. I did get number 8 because of Tom’s recent write-up. I would not have known it otherwise.
5/8!
…though the “notorious” rapper was a way to trick the audience, mt!
Not cool, not cool…
I got 5 out of 8, really disappointed I missed Aretha. Proud that I missed ginger muppet Ed Sheeran.
I got 2 and 5 right. A very poor performance. I could make excuses but I’ve let myself, my family and my nation down.
I may never get over it.
What? It’s the weekend, well let’s get the party started and never speak of this again.
I stunk at this, got only 2 out of 8. Oh well, room for improvement, I guess.
1-8.
I got seven.
Ooh … did far worse than I thought I would (got 1, 4 and 5 right and talked myself out of 6). Good job, mt.
Britney being 25 years ago is unbelievable. Can’t take time going that fast
