The “Final Four” Bracket: The TNOCS-Voted “Official Song of the 2000’s Decade:”

“Greetings, TNOCS siblings! We have reached the-”

itguy.png
Did you just say, ‘siblings?’
I have a graphic, if you’re interested.

“That’s great, Gary! Let’s have a look!”

Well, I guess that’s about as close to “siblings” as we’re gonna get.

(And don’t look now, but it seems that Mrs. Brady is likin’ what she sees over in that northwesternmost corner… You go, Gar.)

Anyway… back to business! We have reached the Final Four of the Song of the 2000’s Decade Tournament.

Many have vied for this treasured prize, chosen by the most elite in the TNOCS realm.

But only the true champions of the aughts remain! Two weeks of voting remain to crown the winner!

As always:

It’s not a competition for the “aughtiest” song.

Or the one that gets you the most cool kid cred.

Vote for the song you always turn up!

Choose your favorite song – based on your own enjoyment.

Maybe your favorite(s) have departed earlier than you wished. But it’s not too late to make sure a song you like moves on (or a song you hate gets eliminated).

While you’re here, consider sharing that statistical analysis of Billboard rankings, or that touching story from your childhood encounter with your musical hero, as an article here at TNOCS. Click here for more on how to submit an article!

…and be sure to come by a day early, before the Finals for a special tribute…

Take care and ttyl buds…

Pauly

Remember: Extended voting is open now until this SUNDAY! Closes at 11:30 PM GMT.

I feel a little sleazy for doing two good artists dirty, but I stand by my picks.

Me too, although I’ve got to admit the feeling of being a little sleazy while voting is kind of, umm, enjoyable? Sorry, I have issues, I know …

My guess for winner is still in the running and doing well. Wish I had put money on this.

The one I want to win and the one I think will win are still there. Unfortunately the luck of the draw means only one of them is going to make the final. It was a good run while it lasted.

Idea for next time we do something similar is for mt to set up a betting sideline and run the odds.

I did the nerdy thing and looked up where these songs rank in AcclaimedMusic.com’s all-time greatest songs of the 2000s as per the opinions of music critics. It goes #1 Hey Ya! #2 Paper Planes #3 Crazy in Love and then allllll the way down at #77 we get Bad Romance. Underdog victory? You! Make! The! Call!

That’s awesome, Logan.

You turned AcclaimedMusic.com into an analytic.

It’s the song’s RPI.

“Paper Planes” and “Hey, Ya” looks like two #1 seeds going at it. I metaphorically flipped a coin. That looks like the championship game.

Where the hell is Ozmoe the monkey puppet in the TNOCS bunch graphic?! Gees, y’all, I share a memorably disturbing photo that many rank with Mr. Blobby and yet it gets overlooked in having its own square! That’s the real upset to me in this contest right now!

Jessica Alba may forgive such oversights, but she doesn’t forget…

Well, now I’ve done it:

As of this writing there are 8,050,677,678 living on planet earth.

And I am the only one who has an angry monkey puppet – and a 2008 Teen Choice Award Winner coming for me.

I’m going on the lam. Remember me kindly. I’ll miss you all.

Still mad that “Since U Been Gone” got the boot. And the two remaining songs that I most want to make the finals are both losing in the polls right now. Stop voting for the wrong songs!!!

Don't Miss

Reporting Live From Mexico City: It’s Edith G With “El Returno Del Mac!”

For someone who has never been to a big rock show? Contributing Author Edith G certainly has a “Todo o Nada”, also known as a “Go BIG or Go Home” attitude! And as the song goes, “you know that can’t be bad”

About This Time 60 Years Ago… It’s The Hits Of November-ish 1965

With a folk-rock scripture lesson on one side and a sonic demolition derby on the other, November 1965 turns out to be one of those months where pop culture accidentally overachieved. It’s all courtesy of Contributing Author DJ Professor Dan, who cheerfully reminds us that the distance between King Solomon and The Who is shorter than you’d expect.
